Hello Friend/Ennis William Cosby Foundation Hosts 4th Annual New York City Gala on November 12, 2003 at the Regent Wall Street
Little Richard to Perform—Mos Def to Host—Special Guest Caroline Kennedy

The 4th annual Hello Friend/Ennis William Cosby Foundation Gala in New York is an opportunity to support one of the city’s most progressive educational initiatives and be entertained by a rock n’ roll institution, the legendary Little Richard. The master of ceremonies for the gala will be Mos Def, the hip hop innovator and celebrated young actor (most recently starring in “The Italian Job”). The event will take place on Wednesday, November 12th at the Regent Wall Street at 6:30 p.m.

Caroline Kennedy will be a special guest of the event that will honor Paul Orfalea (founder of Kinko’s) and educator Ruth Simmons of Brown University for their dedication to extending the joy of learning to all children.

Hosts for the evening at the Regent Wall Street are Ennis Cosby’s sisters Erika, Erinn, Ensa and Evin. Bill and Camille Cosby will also make remarks during the program.

The evening will also highlight the 30 New York City teachers who are current corps of Cosby Scholars in the Ennis William Cosby Graduate Certificate Program at Fordham University. The program has equipped New York City teachers with advanced skills to teach tens of thousands of children to read and is under consideration for adoption in other major cities across the country.

The mission of the Hello Friend/Ennis William Cosby Foundation is that no one with learning differences be denied the lifelong joy and fulfillment of learning. Hello Friend strives to create fundamental changes in services, attitudes, educational systems, families and communities, in order to unlock the gifts of creative accomplishments in learning that benefit all.
