The 2002 Hello Friend / Ennis Cosby Foundation NYC Fundraiser

Our third New York City hosted by the Cosby family honored the creator of "Sesame Street," Joan Ganz Cooney.Guests experienced a moving video showing the groundbreaking work of the first group of teachers to receive the Hello Friend/Ennis William Cosby Graduate Certificate Program Scholarship. A special highlight of the evening was the performance of the legendary Aretha Franklin (who celebrated her 60th birthday with a surprise birthday cake on stage). The evening was hosted by Sinbad and was attended by dignitaries such as Ed Bradley and Johnny Cochran. Mercedes Benz USA was the patron sponsor of the night.

The 2001 Hello Friend / Ennis Cosby Foundation NYC Fundraiser

Our second New York City fundraiser was held at Chelsea Piers. The spectacular evening, hosted by the Cosby family, was a delight to the heart. Master of Ceremonies, Jerry Seinfeld, gave the gift of laughter to all of us, and made a special gift to our Cosby Scholars by purchasing the toast of Broadway auction item and donating it back to the teachers. Our distinguished honoree, Richard Parsons of AOL Time-Warner, reminded us of the significance of reading as the essential and invaluable foundation of education. Music legend Quincy Jones, and his entire orchestra, with Chaka Kahn and Diane Schuur, filled the room with music so inspiring it moved Bill Cosby to take the stage and sing along...well, sort of sing.

The 2000 Hello Friend / Ennis Cosby Foundation NYC Fundraiser

Our first New York City fundraiser was held at Cipriani's 42nd Street, hosted by Bill and Camille Cosby and Ennis' four sisters, and attended by more than 600 people. Lou Rawls filled the hall and our spirits with his music, and Stevie Wonder sang a song dedicated to Ennis. Sotheby's ran our auction with comedic contributions by our emcee, Alan King, who framed the evening with love and laughter. We all had an extraordinary evening, and left having made new friends dedicated to our common goal.
