The Hello Friend / Ennis William Cosby Foundation

Drs. William H. and Camille O. Cosby established the Hello Friend/Ennis William Cosby Foundation to fulfill the goals and  dreams of their son. Ennis' common greeting, "Hello Friend," inspired the name of the Foundation.

The Foundation was formed in early 1997 as a public, non-profit organization. It is dedicated to:

  • being a friend to all people with dyslexia and language-based learning differences,
  • recognizing and celebrating their gifts,
  • opening the doors of learning to them
  • and helping them to reach their full potential.

This Foundation promotes:

  • early recognition,
  • compassionate understanding,
  • and effective education.

The inspiration and overall artistic concept for the foundation logo, which incorporates the sun and moon, was provided by two of Ennis' sisters, Erika and Ensa. Ennis frequently told his four sisters to look  toward the sun and moon and think of him.  It was his way of saying that he was watching over them, day and night. George Evans, of George Evans Designs, is the graphic designer.

The Foundation is not soliciting grant proposals or scholarship applications at this time. Please read about our efforts, accomplishments, and plans in our NEWSLETTER posted here on our web site. The Hello Friend/Ennis William Cosby Foundation (the "Foundation") is a tax-exempt, publicly supported charitable organization described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue  Code.  Copies of its determination letter are available upon request. Contributions to the Foundation are tax deductible to the extent provided by Section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code.

Your past and continued support will enable the Foundation to continue providing much needed information about learning differences to all people. Please contact us at:
